Depending on the year of manufacture and body type, the mounting points differ slightly.
How to remove the front bumper
- open the hood.
- under the hood, unscrew the two screws (twisted from top to bottom) and remove the radiator grille (first release the upper part of the grille from the latches, then tilt it towards you and pull it up).
- on the bottom side, we unscrew the seven screws (twisted from bottom to top) that secure the lower part of the front bumper.
- turn the wheels to the side.
- in the wheel arches, we unscrew three screws on each side and release the fenders (front part).
- behind the fenders, we unscrew one screw on each side (twisted from bottom to top), which fix the corners to the wings.
- release the latches in the wings (pull the corners towards you).
- release the latches under the radiator grille.
- with an assistant, we remove the front bumper forward (we look so as not to break the wires and hoses).
- disconnect the connectors of electrical equipment.
- if the car is equipped with headlight washers, disconnect the hose from the tank (liquid will start to flow out, you need to prepare a container or plug).
How to remove the rear bumper
- open the trunk lid.
- we open hatches in the side panels of the trunk.
- through the hatches, we unscrew one plastic fixing screw each and remove the rear lights (they are held on the retainers in the wings). In the Golf Variant, the taillights hold four nuts.
- on the bottom side, we unscrew four (Golf Variant six) screws (twisted from the bottom up), which attach the lower part of the rear bumper.
- in the wheel arches, we unscrew three screws on each side, which fasten the fenders (rear part).
- behind the fenders, we unscrew one screw on each side (twisted from top to bottom, there may be pistons), which fasten the corners to the wings.
- release the latches in the wings (pull the corners towards you).
- release the latches under the taillights (in the Golf Variant, we unscrew two screws under the taillights).
- with an assistant, we remove the rear bumper back (we look so as not to break the wires).
- on the right side, in the direction of movement, we disconnect the common connector of electrical equipment.
